On November 19, Our Foreign Neighbors We Care will invite a specialist lecturer, Mr. Naoto Okamura from Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin, whose past seminars were highly appreciated, to conduct the 4th workshop on the basics of interpreting. This workshop will focus on “Work Style Reform”, a hot social and economic topic. The lecturer will give participants opportunities to learn practical skills through interpreting from English into Japanese and vice-versa with an emphasis on active listening. These training sessions are useful for effective interpreting and strengthening the skills according to each participant’s needs.
Not a day passes on TV or radio without us hearing about “Work Style Reform”, one of the most important policies, proclaimed by the Japanese Government. It is commonly believed that in Japan the birthrate is declining and that the population is rapidly aging. Thus, due to labor shortages, it is projected that the social security systems, such as pension and medical care, etc. will become increasingly difficult to maintain in future.
Mr. Okamura will highlight the problems of Japanese workers and what concrete countermeasures the Japanese Government will should concretely. Based on this theme, participants will practice active listening and interpreting skills during the workshop.
